Last week, during its annual conference in Atlanta, GA, the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO) showed that raising awareness of CFRE certification and recognizing CFRE certified fundraisers can be a fun way to engage conference attendees!
Brilliant in its simplicity, the #SelfiewithaCFRE contest encouraged conference attendees to seek out CFRE certified fundraisers in attendance and ask them to pose for a selfie that the attendee would then tweet with the hashtags #SelfiewithaCFRE and #NAYDO. The three attendees who shared the most #SelfiewithaCFRE photos on Twitter throughout the conference were awarded prizes.
So they wouldn’t be shocked by their sudden celebrity, The CFRE certified fundraisers attending the conference were made aware of the #SelfiewithaCFRE contest by e-mail, about a week before the conference. They were asked to pick up a CFRE ribbon from the CFRE International booth in the exhibit hall and wear it on their conference badge, so that they could be recognized. Conference attendees were made aware of the contest through a series of tweets from the NAYDO Twitter account, a message sent through the on-site conference app., and at the CFRE Information session held during the conference.
In all, contest participants generated 54 original #SelfiewithaCFRE tweets including 39 different photos. Highlighting the exponential communication power of Twitter, these 54 tweets generated 100 retweets, 182 favorites, and 218,000 total twitter impressions! You can browse the fun #SelfiewithaCFRE tweets and pictures on NAYDO’s #SelfiewithaCFRE page on Storify.
To quote contest winner Molly Fannin (@mollyollyaction): “@adamclevenger… started my @CFRE_INTL application today…thanks to you CFREs at #NAYDO!”
CFRE International’s sincere thanks go out to NAYDO volunteers Adam Clevenger, CFRE, Ryan Johnson, CFRE and NAYDO Membership & Education Director, Pamela Hearn, who worked together to organize and produce this successful and FUN contest to raise awareness of CFRE certification and the YMCA development staff who have achieved the CFRE credential! Kudos!
