CFRE International announces 2020 board of directors

Alexandria, VA, USA – CFRE International is pleased to announce its 2020 Board of Directors. The organization has seen phenomenal growth over recent years as the number of individuals holding the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification has steadily climbed to nearly 7,000. The leadership of the CFRE International Board of Directors has been instrumental in setting direction for the organization as it goes from strength to strength.

As the CFRE certification program enters its 39th year, CFRE International’s Board of Directors continues to champion the CFRE credential as the mark of confidence, ethics, and professionalism in fundraising.

“The members of CFRE International’s Board of Directors work tirelessly to advance professional standards in fundraising through actively supporting the growth of the CFRE credential, which is the only globally available, accredited certification for fundraising professionals,” said CFRE International President and CEO Eva Aldrich, Ph.D., CAE, (CFRE, 2001-2016). “In 2020 we’re on track to have more CFREs worldwide than ever before. This is a massive achievement as CFRE International continues to serve the nonprofit sector through certification of fundraising professionals aspiring to the highest standards of ethics, competence and service to the philanthropic sector.”

Members of the 2020 CFRE International Board of Directors are:

Lesley Ray, MBus, CFRE, FFIA – Chair
Executive Director of Philanthropy at Mater Foundation in Australia. Holds a master’s degree in philanthropic studies from the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at Queensland University of Technology. CFRE since 2002.

Thomas P. Berekoff, MA, CFRE – Vice Chair

President and CEO, tpb strategic council ltd. in Canada. Holds a master’s degree in philanthropy and development from Saint Mary’s University and a bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Lethbridge. CFRE since 1995.

India Alexis Ehioba, MNA, CFRE – Secretary/Treasurer

CEO, Shore Community Services in the United States. Holds a master’s degree in nonprofit administration from North Park University and a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from The Ohio State University. CFRE since 2008.

Catherine Bays, CFRE

Chief Development Officer, Museum of Discovery in the United States. Holds a bachelor’s degree in English with secondary education certification from the University of Arkansas. CFRE since 2012.

Becky Ann Gilbert, CFRE

Director of Development, ASSIST in Germany. Holds a master’s degree in communications with high honors from University of the Arts, Berlin and a BSLA degree cum laude from Georgetown University. CFRE since 2014.

Vincent Law, CFRE, MInstF(Dip)

Advisor, Fund Development and Communications, SOS Villages International Asia in Hong Kong. Holds a master’s degree in the psychology of education from City University, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Imperial College London, a diploma in child psychology from Open University, Hong Kong, and a postgraduate diploma in lifelong education from the University of Nottingham, UK. CFRE since 2006.

Elizabeth LeClair, CFRE

Director of Major Gifts, QEII Foundation in Canada. Holds a master’s degree from Cardiff University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Dalhousie University. CFRE since 2013.

Jeff Norris, MBA, CFRE

President & CEO, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation in Canada. Holds an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Saskatchewan. CFRE since 2003.

Graham Papenfus, CFRE, F.IDPE

Director of Fundraising, Kingswood School in the United Kingdom. Holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Rhodes University. CFRE since 2006.

Mark Stuart, CFRE

President & CEO, The San Diego Foundation in the United States. Holds a master’s degree in educational administration from McDaniel College and a bachelor’s degree in English, political science, and public service from Albion College. CFRE since 2014.

Mary Tschirhart, Ph.D.

Director of School and Professor, Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, George Washington University in the United States. Holds a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and human resource management from the University of Michigan’s School of Business, an MBA in arts administration from the State University of New York, and a bachelor’s in philosophy from the Honors College at Michigan State University.
