CFRE Certified Fundraisers Receive Prestigious AFP and FIA Awards

Our congratulations go out this week to David M. Huffine, CFRE and Lesley Ray, CFRE, who have been named recipients of highly prestigious fundraising awards from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) respectively.

David M. Huffine, CFRE, who first achieved CFRE certification in 1993, has been named the 2015 Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Huffine, who serves as Vice President for Advancement for St. Joseph’s Villa in Richmond, Va. and has helped raise an estimated $750 million in charitable funds over his career, will receive the award on March 28, 2015 at AFP’s International Fundraising Conference in Baltimore. The Outstanding Fundraising Professional award is the highest honor that AFP bestows upon its members, recognizing effective, creative and stimulating leadership as well as the practice and promotion of ethical fundraising. Lesley Ray, CFFE, first certified in 2002, was named the Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) 2015 Arthur Venn Fundraiser of the Year at the Fundraisers’ Gala Awards Dinner held 19 February during the 2015 FIA Conference in Brisbane.

Ray began her career as a professional fundraiser in 1989 and now serves as Executive Director – Fundraising for Mater Foundation in Queensland, Australia. She is a dedicated volunteer for CFRE International, serving as the Advisory Council representative for FIA as well as on the Resource Reading Advisory Group. In an interview with Liz Henderson of Fundraising & Philanthropy magazine (login required), Lesley listed achieving her CFRE certification as one of her proudest professional accomplishments.
