The American Public Gardens Association Becomes Newest CFRE Participating Organization

Alexandria, VA, USA – October 24, 2023 – CFRE International proudly announces the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) as its newest Participating Organization and second to join the program in 2023.

APGA champions and advances nearly 600 public gardens in North America and internationally. They lead, advocate, and innovate in the conservation and appreciation of plants. Since 1940, APGA has been the leading professional organization for the field of public horticulture.

As a Participating Organization, fundraising professionals who work for gardens that are members of APGA receive a 20 percent discount on Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) initial certification and recertification.

CFRE Participating Organizations promote CFRE certification to their members to support fundraising professionals in centering their work on globally accepted ethical best practices.

“APGA is strengthening and shaping public horticulture. Fundraising professionals working for public gardens are vital to preserving these spaces for everyone to enjoy. Strong development teams putting ethics at the center of their work will help public gardens worldwide deliver on their missions,” said CFRE International President & CEO Eva Aldrich, Ph.D., CAE, (CFRE, 2001-2016). “This partnership supports development teams at APGA member organizations while placing the CFRE credential within closer reach for thousands of fundraising professionals.”

“I know first-hand the importance of fundraising to growing and operating public gardens,” APGA CEO Michelle Provaznik said. “APGA is pleased to be able to offer our members this exciting professional development opportunity in support of their important work.”

APGA joins 30 other current Participating Organizations in advancing confidence, ethics, and professionalism in fundraising.
