Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) Certification Awarded
Prestigious International Accreditation

Alexandria, VA – 18 July 2017 – CFRE International, the global leader in standard setting and certification for fundraising professionals, announced today that the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has accredited the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification under the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 standard for personnel certification programs. The CFRE® credential is the world’s only accredited certification for philanthropic fundraising professionals.

ANSI accreditation is the hallmark of a rigorous, high-quality certification program. ANSI accreditation enhances the stature of the CFRE credential because it is recognized internationally for ensuring the consistency and integrity of certification bodies and credentials. The ISO in ANSI/ISO/IEC stands for International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from 163 countries. Accreditation by ANSI means that the CFRE credential’s global significance is recognized by other worldwide accrediting bodies with which ANSI has established multilateral recognition agreements, including members of the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation.

Accreditation of the CFRE program under ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 confers independent, widely respected international validation of both the CFRE program and credential, verifying the competence, credibility, and ethical commitment of an increasingly mobile and global workforce of CFRE certified fundraising professionals.

“Achieving ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation for the CFRE represents a big step toward increased recognition of the CFRE credential as the international standard for certification of fundraising professionals. It’s important because it affirms that the CFRE program and certification development process meets widely recognized international quality standards for personnel certification programs,” said CFRE International Chair Marnie Hill, CFRE. “The accreditation provides independent global validation for the CFRE credential, helping donors, fundraising professionals and nonprofit organizations to distinguish reliable and meaningful professional certifications like the CFRE from other offerings,” added Hill.

Accredited credentials improve practices within professions as well as enhance the integrity, confidence, and mobility of certified professionals. “ANSI is the leading provider of accreditation for certification bodies”, said CFRE International President and CEO Eva E. Aldrich, M.A., CAE, (CFRE 2001-2016). “ANSI accreditation of the CFRE credential offers enhanced global reach and respect for the fundraising professionals who have earned the CFRE credential.”

With ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation of the CFRE® program and thousands of CFRE-credentialed fundraisers already serving in philanthropic leadership roles around the world, CFRE International continues to position the CFRE credential as the international standard for certification of fundraising professionalism.
