As announced in October 2015, CFRE International will be transitioning to Updated CFRE Application Requirements for initial and re-certification beginning January 2016. As part of this transition, the online application system for both initial and re-certification will be offline the first week of January 2016 as technical upgrades are performed to bring the application form into alignment with the updated application requirements.
As part of this transition, Volunteer Service will cease to be listed as a separate application requirement. Volunteer Service will be considered service learning through volunteer experience and will be eligible for up to 10 points of credit in the Education category of the application.
If your open application for initial or re-certification as a CFRE will not be submitted prior to 1 January and includes points within the Volunteer Service section, be sure to login to your application on the CFRE International website before the end of the year to make note of the Volunteer Service activities you have accumulated. Volunteer Service entries and points will not be retained during the transition to the updated application form. Once the technical upgrades to the online application are complete, those activities may be entered into the Education section of your application for up to 10 points of service learning through volunteer experience.
Current application requirements for initial and re-certification continue to apply to all applications submitted before 1 January 2016. If you have accumulated the necessary points to complete and submit your application before the end of the year, you may want to do that. It could save some time and effort in the new year.
