Revocation of the CFRE Policy

The certification of an individual may be revoked for:

  1. Breach of CFRE International’s Accountability Standards as determined by the CFRE International Board of Directors and/or an appointed Review Panel.
  2. Misrepresentation or misstatement of facts submitted upon application for certification or recertification.
  3. Failure to complete or fulfill requirements for certification or recertification.
  4. Determination that certification or recertification was improperly granted.

Procedure

The procedure has two steps.  Step one consists of notification to the individual of proposed revocation of CFRE certification.  If the individual fails to submit a written opposition to the proposed revocation, final action may then be taken. Step two consists of the procedures provided by CFRE International Appeal Policy and Procedure and is invoked when the individual files a written opposition to the proposed revocation.

Step One: Notification to the Certified Individual of Proposed Revocation

Upon receipt of information by CFRE International from any source that may lead to revocation of certification, the individual will be notified in writing of the proposed revocation and the grounds thereof.  This notification will be forwarded by any form of delivery ensuring a return receipt and will include copies of the CFRE International Policy and Procedure on Revocation of Certification and the CFRE International Appeal Policy and Procedure.

Within twenty (20) working days of notification of proposed revocation of certification, the individual must respond by submitting any written statement, including any documentation and evidence, in opposition to the proposed revocation in accordance with CFRE International  Appeal Policy and Procedure.  This response shall be submitted to the Executive Director.

Revocation

If the individual fails to respond within twenty (20) working days, the decision will be made by CFRE International and will become the final decision.  A copy of the final decision will be sent to the individual by any form of delivery ensuring a return receipt.

Filing the Initial Appeal to CFRE International

If the individual submits a statement or any other documentation or evidence in opposition to the proposed revocation, this will be deemed a request for review and consideration (Step One of the Appeal Policy and Procedure).  All relevant materials will then be forwarded to the CFRE International Board of Directors and all further action concerning the matter will be governed by the CFRE International Appeal Policy and Procedure.

Notification of Final Decision

Upon a decision becoming final, the individual shall be notified in writing by any form of delivery ensuring a return receipt in accordance with the CFRE International  Appeal Policy and Procedure (PDF).
